Timing Is Everything

They (whoever "they" is) say that timing is everything.

Why does it not surprise me when I hear Bush bang on the war drums yesterday (October 6, 2005) about the "war on terror" and a few hours later there just happens to be a new "credible" terror threat in New York?

Whatever it takes to keep the masses afraid and surrender more of their freedom!

Ah yes, timing is everything!

Interesting Pictures

I am currently out in LA working a golf tournament. Of course the fires are going on out here – fortunately they are farther north of us.

The other morning I was watching the news and they reported on the fires in the Bell Canyon area. I perked up at this point because of the name – “Bell Canyon”. Here is why:

In Jeremiah 50:2 the Lord says that Babylon’s gods – Bel and Marduk will be utterly disgraced. According to Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Dictionary” Bel and Marduk are the same chief Babylonian god. This god had to do with politics and war. How interesting?!

The evening before, I read in Obadiah about Edom being destroyed. It mentions Israel being a raging fire and Edom a field of dry stubble. What was the reason for their destruction? Simply not coming to the aid of Israel when they were being invaded and Jerusalem was being divided. They cried out for the destruction of Jerusalem and gloated over it. See Ps. 137:7

So here is what is going on in my mind. I read about Edom being destroyed simply for ignoring Israel and calling for her destruction. In my mind I see “fire” from reading in Obadiah. Also, my mind has been meditating on the meaning of “Bel and Marduk” – the current god of America – “politics and war” from Jeremiah 50.

I turn on the TV and see on Fox News a double box graphic with video in each box – on the right side was the fires going on in California and in the left was political stuff going on in Washington about DeLay and other politicians. To me it was an interesting picture.

How interesting is it that our government is the way that it is? It is plain as day that it is being attacked – mostly from within. Local and state and federal governments are fighting each other and blaming one another for the lack of response to Hurricane Katrina. The story from the Word of God that goes through my mind is how that when Gideon went to fight the Midianites they ended up fighting and killing themselves out of confusion and panic. Our government is certainly confused! Of course all the stuff going on over in Iraq pertains to Marduk too.

These are interesting times and there are certainly interesting pictures that come to my mind when I read the Bible and watch the news!

Humble Yourselves in the Sight of the Lord

When Hurricane Rita formed I was wondering about the timing and significance and praying about this storm.

A couple of observations: Rita was birthed on September 17th as reported in the first advisory issued at 11pm on the 17th.

I haven’t noticed anything in direct relation to Israel like I had with Hurricane Katrina. However, I do find it very interesting that the day before, on September 16th at 11am there was a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Service for the victims of Hurricane Katrina at the Washington National Cathedral in our nation’s capital.

President Bush spoke during time – you can find his remarks in the webcast at this site. Go to 55:00 minutes in and you will here his remarks. He talks until around 1:02.

I don’t really find any fault with what he says (on first listen anyhow), however, I do find it interesting that there was no mention of repentance in relation to Israel or even in our own lives. In other words – this was just a storm – just a coincidence. I think of the kings of the Old Testament time and when troubles would come, many would humble themselves and cry out to God. Not so in these days of current Biblical times.

What will it take?

The Bush Speaks

The other night as I watched President Bush speak to the nation, a Bible verse kept running through my head. Habakkuk 1:11 (speaking of Babylon) “But they are deeply guilty, for their own strength is their god.”

Hmmmmm?!.

Our Response?

I believe that the events of the past couple of weeks are directly related to our policies as a nation against Israel – forcing the “Road Map to Peace”. However, I am not saying that these people that have been devasted by Katrina deserved this. God destroys nations but cares for each person.

Our (my) response should not be one of smugness or “I must be better than them because I didn’t get wiped out”. The correct response should be to pray – cry out for these people as well as doing what we can to show mercy and kindness and of course, love.

Shaking the Heavens

The sun has unleashed three major solar flares in the past three days. Reminds me of the verses that I find if I do a search on "Shake the Heavens".

I woke up this morning to reports of an earthquake - 7.3 off the coast of Papua New Guinea.

Just a coincidence?

Was Hurricane Katrina a Signal Flag?

Being a firm believer in the Bible as God’s Word, I have come to the conclusion that America is Babylon mentioned in Jeremiah 50 & 51. There are many reasons for this belief. I could be wrong but I see a lot of similarities between current events and These two chapters! I will not post those reasons here but will give links to some articles explaining those reasons. Click here for a list news articles. Are they just a coincidence?

It doesn’t take too much to connect the current events of our time to the Word of God. I humbly and strongly urge you to sit down and read the Bible – most specifically Jeremiah chapters 50 & 51. Follow the links to take you to the online copy of Jeremiah 50 and Jeremiah 51.

There is a reason why the destruction in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama has been described as “an environmental disaster of biblical proportions” We are still in Biblical days folks. There are still some prophecies that still need to be fulfilled. The book hasn’t been closed yet! We would all be wise to dive into the scriptures and pray for insight from the Holy Spirit on the meaning of His Word and how it applies to today in Biblical History that is being played out right before our eyes.

Is Hurricane Ophelia another Signal Flag? Or is it just another coincidence?

Interesting article about destruction of Gaza Synagogues halted until Sunday.

Another coincidence in timing? What will Hurricane Ophelia do on Sunday and beyond?

Jesus replied, “Your problem is that you don’t know the scriptures and you don’t know the power of God.” Mark 12:24 (NLT)

This wasn’t just some smart remark that He made. This is our two main problems – we don’t read the scriptures! What are the scriptures? The same books that Jesus read – the Old Testament. We need to read the Old Testament and the New Testament. The other problem is not knowing the Power of God. What is the Power of God? It is the Good News of Christ – His work of salvation to everyone who believes. Not just believe in God but put our simple trust in the death of Jesus on the cross to be our payment for our sins. Paid for. All of them. Past. Present. And Future. Nothing else is required. Just trust. That is Grace. That leads to life!

But Jesus didn’t remain dead for long. He rose from the dead, just like the scriptures said. Jesus Himself proclaimed that He would rise again. It happened. Romans 4:25 says that “he was raised from the dead to make us right with God.”

Now what? What do we put our trust in? How do we respond to that Truth? How does that truth get displayed in our lives?

More to Come?

This morning as I make my "rounds" on the Internet checking up on the news, I came across a very interesting article on WorldNetDaily. It appears that I am not the only one in the world that has noticed some "coincidences". This article is very good and should be read by all to learn more of what has happened.
WorldNetDaily Article

If there is any connection to Israel and the destruction in the United States - if it is more than just a "coincidence" - then we need to be aware of the fact that starting next Monday "The IDF will begin to evacuate the Gaza Strip and the Philadelphi route next Monday, hoping to finish the final withdrawal from Gaza by next Thursday."

These are troubling times for all. How should we prepare? How should we live?
