Timing Is Everything

They (whoever "they" is) say that timing is everything.

Why does it not surprise me when I hear Bush bang on the war drums yesterday (October 6, 2005) about the "war on terror" and a few hours later there just happens to be a new "credible" terror threat in New York?

Whatever it takes to keep the masses afraid and surrender more of their freedom!

Ah yes, timing is everything!

Interesting Pictures

I am currently out in LA working a golf tournament. Of course the fires are going on out here – fortunately they are farther north of us.

The other morning I was watching the news and they reported on the fires in the Bell Canyon area. I perked up at this point because of the name – “Bell Canyon”. Here is why:

In Jeremiah 50:2 the Lord says that Babylon’s gods – Bel and Marduk will be utterly disgraced. According to Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Dictionary” Bel and Marduk are the same chief Babylonian god. This god had to do with politics and war. How interesting?!

The evening before, I read in Obadiah about Edom being destroyed. It mentions Israel being a raging fire and Edom a field of dry stubble. What was the reason for their destruction? Simply not coming to the aid of Israel when they were being invaded and Jerusalem was being divided. They cried out for the destruction of Jerusalem and gloated over it. See Ps. 137:7

So here is what is going on in my mind. I read about Edom being destroyed simply for ignoring Israel and calling for her destruction. In my mind I see “fire” from reading in Obadiah. Also, my mind has been meditating on the meaning of “Bel and Marduk” – the current god of America – “politics and war” from Jeremiah 50.

I turn on the TV and see on Fox News a double box graphic with video in each box – on the right side was the fires going on in California and in the left was political stuff going on in Washington about DeLay and other politicians. To me it was an interesting picture.

How interesting is it that our government is the way that it is? It is plain as day that it is being attacked – mostly from within. Local and state and federal governments are fighting each other and blaming one another for the lack of response to Hurricane Katrina. The story from the Word of God that goes through my mind is how that when Gideon went to fight the Midianites they ended up fighting and killing themselves out of confusion and panic. Our government is certainly confused! Of course all the stuff going on over in Iraq pertains to Marduk too.

These are interesting times and there are certainly interesting pictures that come to my mind when I read the Bible and watch the news!

Humble Yourselves in the Sight of the Lord

When Hurricane Rita formed I was wondering about the timing and significance and praying about this storm.

A couple of observations: Rita was birthed on September 17th as reported in the first advisory issued at 11pm on the 17th.

I haven’t noticed anything in direct relation to Israel like I had with Hurricane Katrina. However, I do find it very interesting that the day before, on September 16th at 11am there was a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Service for the victims of Hurricane Katrina at the Washington National Cathedral in our nation’s capital.

President Bush spoke during time – you can find his remarks in the webcast at this site. Go to 55:00 minutes in and you will here his remarks. He talks until around 1:02.

I don’t really find any fault with what he says (on first listen anyhow), however, I do find it interesting that there was no mention of repentance in relation to Israel or even in our own lives. In other words – this was just a storm – just a coincidence. I think of the kings of the Old Testament time and when troubles would come, many would humble themselves and cry out to God. Not so in these days of current Biblical times.

What will it take?
